This project renovates 68,000 GSF of underutilized and aged space of the 1977 Light Hall building. This project is separated by floors (6th, 7th, and 8th Floor) all of which were phased during the construction process to minimized disruption of ongoing medical research.
The existing 6th floor in Light Hallis a two phased project which renovated 28,000 GSF for the Biochemistry Laboratory. This floor included stunning design features such as large expanses of glass to foster a sense of collaboration and unity within the department. By working close with Blair Mui Dowd Architects, Phoenix Design Group Inc. was proud to incorporated innovated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design to achieve LEED Gold Certification for this floor.
The existing 7th and 8th floor in Light Hall was a multi-phased project which renovated 40,000 GSF for the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics. The program includes basic science lab space as well as the complete renovation of the Vanderbilt Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping Center, one of only six NIH sponsored and NIDDK funded MMPC in the nation.
