This seven-story Medical Research Tower in Oklahoma City is equipped with 54 laboratories, a 12,000 GSF vivarium, clinic, imaging facility, tissue culture labs, and a fitness center. The facility is dedicated to understanding and curing human disease and focus on such critical research area as lupus, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
An interstitial mechanical floor houses 6 custom air handing units delivering 185,000 cfm of conditioned air. The mechanical system utilizes Fan Wall Technology, Venturi-Wedges, Chilled beams, and exhaust heat recovery. Other sustainable features include 24-wind turbines for power generation, air handler condensate recovery for replenishing the outdoor water feature, and a storm water recovery system. This project received LEED Gold Certification which represents a significant challenge for a facility that uses 100% outdoor air for ventilation and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
